All I can say is that being sick…for lack of a better word..SUCKS. I have a whole new appreciation for people who stay positive when they are ill. I had my best friend cheering me on and making me dinners and looking after me. But imagine if I didn’t. I seriously wouldn’t have seen any point in carrying on. What I realized is that when you are sick, you are not just physically under the weather. Every single negative thought and stress comes to mind when you are sick..or maybe just when I get sick.
And as you start to physically feel better you are crawling in your own skin while thinking about all the stresses and horrible things in the world.
I did just about everything..I even went for vitamin intravenously and am taking organic million dollar supplements and drinking smoothies and watching funny movies and sitting on the porch to ” heal my eyeballs”.
No wonder people watch cartoons. I should have just upped my codeine and kept it blurry and simple but instead stayed present in the painful moment!!! Crawling in my skin was an understatement.
People, have we no real cure for the flu??? Sorry to sound cliche but we can send people to space and fly and text and bladablada…but there really is nothing we can do when it comes to the flu. There should be flu support groups. I mean I don’t know about you guys but fevers are not cool not cool at all. The flu is like an alien taking over your body without knocking you out.
All I can say is thank goodness for orange juice, and frozen strawberries and sunshine and friends and pugs and seasons one and two of “2 and a half men” , and Tylenol cold and flu and sunglasses and scarves and fresh mangoes and other people who tell you how sick they were…so you don’t feel like your flu is weird and endless.
Now it’s Monday and I have been sick for 8 days and it’s time to get organized for the show I am playing on Thursday.
And then I head to Nashville on Sunday to finish the album.
Life goes on. I am slowly getting going again and somehow describing my last week is helping mew move forward and start my busy life up again.
This flu has definitely taught me to be even more germ -phobic than I was before! That weird girl on planes with a scarf over her face..that is me.

Take care of yourself! I got something like the flu last year and ended up six days into it at St. Paul’s hospital. The flu wore me out and gave me pneumonia, and I spent two days recovering there. It’s a nasty thing, and unfortunately it mutates every season so it’s hard to treat.
I have suffered for more than 2 weeks as a result of this cold, sore throat which remains tickly. If you try to sing it makes you choke. It is terrible.. I am hopeful if it ever warms up here in Manitoba that I will feel much better.
Best wishes on your quick recovery Jessie. -Lynn
well, jessie i know how hard dealing with sickness can be, and i understand where you are coming from, Good thing there is a thing called best friends, tv, and fresh air, same with like all the heathly drinks, just be careful next time, yes you can get the flu from anything, But just try your hardest to be germ free,
Take care and hope you get better before your show
Have a great day..
Hopefully not the swine flu.
Hope you are feeling better..
.
I was 2 weeks before I felt human again..Guess I picked the germ up at my Aunt and Uncle’s at Easter Dinner….3 of us were just the way you described …
Gee Jessie take care and Nashville here she comes..
Jessie,
You make me laugh!! Maybe your’re running a fever, maybe your mind is roaming - but, you are truly “one of a kind” - and you always make me smile - even when you’re ranting!!
Get well REALLY soon Jessie.
If forced to choose between getting the flu and watching “Two And A Half Men”, I’d choose the flu. And then I’d make a show about it called “Flu And A Half Men”.
Hello Jessie,
I totally understand your frustration with being sick; it truly sucks. For some reason when I was a student being sick was a blessing but now when I’m a performer and have shows to do and award ceremonies to attend it’s not the same fun/sick day home!
Thank God for friends, family and pets!
Kuddos on loading up on fresh fruit and going health crazy; it does help in the prevention of things!
Looking forward to hearing your new album! Glad you are getting better each day!
Cheers,
Angela
What if it was Two and A Half Vampires? Would you watch it then, Ry?
