I just fell in love with the most amazing real lavender dryer softener things…I was staying at this beautiful house in Nashville..I was watching Enchanted, and I opened the laundry room and what did I find? these dryer sachets that you put in with your clothes and they smell like lavender. So now I feel like my clothes smell good and they are calming..cool dude.
I bumped into Deric Ruttan here at Sony Tree Studios in Nashville and he came in and sang backups on “Nobody Says No to Me.” I was thrilled to have him sing on this next record! It’s funny I seem to love his music more and more every time I hear it. I like the tone of his voice and he is laid back but cool and confident sounding. He is also a successful writer here in Nashville and I have a lot of respect for his years of hard work penning songs!
I’m sitting here in this stinky studio (cause it smells like smoke and lots of late night sessions) I’m eating cherries, drinking perrier, listening to the thunder and lightening outside and am just about to record the last few tracks on this record.
Jason Gantt (who is engineering this record) and Victoria Shaw and myself are sitting here finishing this little gem of a song called Lavender Tea (because how could I not sing about Tea?). And will probably be the last song on the record which is funny because it’s the last of 11 songs we are recording.
My best friend has come out to meet me and spend Tonight and Saturday with me. We are going to be tourists and rent a car and drive thru the country side. Maybe steal a horse! You know..why not..? What a perfect way to end this trip.
It’s been a treat to be here and to learn so much from people who have opened their hearts and their homes and taught me so much. It’s also been great trying bubble tea..but for some reason I feel like those little starch balls are fish eggs and they are gonna hatch into gold fish in my tummy! Whatever…
Oh and I am on the Chevey Cross Canada Countdown tonight at 7pm ET time so check it out! We had a LOT of fun filming it!
